Position Description

Reporting to the Production Director – Co-Extrusion, the Production Planner will be responsible for scheduling production for all orders received on a daily basis in order to meet delivery deadlines. The Production Planner will also coordinate production for all special orders received for research and development testing. In both aspects, the Production Planner is expected to effectively leverage the best available personnel and resources.

Roles and Responsibiliites
  • Participate in achieving and meeting operational objectives of the Co-Extrusion department
  • Develop and maximize production schedules based on required resources, including customer needs, personnel, material and equipment
  • Transfer all relevant production schedule information to the all stakeholders involved
  • Monitor the performance of planned productions on a daily basis and notify the departments concerned of any delays
  • Be responsible to act in the event of a major breakage or any change in schedule
  • Analyze the results of the performance indicators in the Co-Extrusion department
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Production and Purchasing departments
  • Manage the inventory of resins and additives
  • Participate in operational decisions (e.g. purchasing of raw materials)
  • Monitor any need for new product launches
  • Analyze purchasing needs and inform the Purchasing department of relevant trends
  • Optimize the product inventory level to maximize turnover while maintaining sufficient levels to support distribution
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and provide support for projects aimed at quality, decreasing turnaround times and cost improvement
  • Write management reports

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or Industrial Engineering
  • APICS CPIM certification would be an asset
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Experience in production planning in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a high degree of autonomy
  • You have the ability to foster teamwork

  • You are organized and disciplined in work
  • You are a good communicator and are able to interact effectively with team members and external stakeholders
