Earlier this month, The Canada Green Building Council awarded Polykar’s building Silver Certification status under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme. The St-Laurent, Quebec based building comprises a 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility and offices, and is also situated in the first industrial park consisting of LEED buildings in Canada. The international certification brings to the forefront Polykar’s high level of commitment to environmental awareness and consideration to sustainability.
The LEED Silver Certification was obtained on the basis several categories of the building’s design and sustainable development features, gaining a total of 37 points and credits. In addition, the facility has been able to increase its energy performance by 31.2 % over a conventionally designed building; has a highly efficient level of mechanical equipment; possesses low-emittance high-efficiency glass and has reduced its indoor water use by at least 40%.

At a ceremony to mark this official environmental standard, Ms. Elyse Damdjee, President of Polykar, accepted the Silver Certification from Mr. Dario Montoni, Founder and President of Le Groupe Montoni Division Construction Inc., and developer of the Polykar building.
