Polykar is pleased to announce that construction of its brand new, expanded production facility is currently underway in St Laurent, Quebec.
Thanks to consistent growth in sales, client loyalty and an expanding product portfolio, Polykar’s offices and manufacturing facility will be relocating to the new site by late 2010.
Polykar’s future location will have an area of approximately 75,000 square feet as well as additional space for future expansion. Below is a rendering of the new site.

In its continued efforts to produce polyethylene film and bags in a sustainable manner, Polykar’s new production facility will be a “LEED” (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building. LEED is an internationally recognized environmental certification for buildings and was created to define a universal standard for “green buildings” while promoting the benefits of environmental design and construction.

LEED Canada was created in 2003 and uses the same criteria as the original LEED to rate its buildings:

  • Location and planning
  • Regional priority
  • Water, heating, and energy efficiency
  • Innovation and design
  • Indoor environmental quality

The continued success of Polykar Inc. is due in large part to its clients and the trust built between them. Amir Karim, Vice President of Business Development, remarked that “...Due to the immense support of our clients over the last 25 years, Polykar has achieved substantial growth which has in turn allowed us to expand production. We are grateful to all our clients for their loyalty which has helped us become one of the leading manufacturers of polyethylene film and plastic bags in Canada.”

Polykar looks forward to further innovation and pursuing the development of post-consumer recycled garbage bags, compostable bags and food packaging in response to the growing market demand.
