Saint-Laurent, Québec– Les Industries Polykar Inc. (Polykar) is pleased to announce that it will invest an additional $4 million in the coming months to expand its production capacity. The investments are being made in all the different market segments that Polykar is active in, namely co-extrusion of polyethylene film, food and industrial packaging, certified compostable bags and garbage bags, as well as recycling. This new capacity will come on stream beginning June 2016 with a projected completion date during the first quarter of 2017.
Speaking about the 2016 expansion, Polykar’s president, Elyse Damdjee noted, “Remarkably, this is our second major expansion in less than two years, and it is primarily driven by the strong growth in all of our market segments. None of this would be possible without the trust and confidence that our clients have placed in Polykar which is allowing us to grow our market share in a relatively stagnant economy.”
Polykar expects to create a total of 10-12 new jobs in manufacturing, logistics, as well as sales and marketing during 2016.
