Montreal, QC, 9 July 2018 – Les Industries Polykar, a family enterprise that has become one of the leading Canadian manufacturers of garbage bags, polyethylene film and food packaging, today announces the transition of ownership from co-founders Elyse Damdjee and Aziz Karim, to their son Amir Karim, who becomes President and Chief Executive Officer effective today.
In expressing his pride and honor to carry on his family’s legacy through Polykar, Amir first acknowledged the solid entrepreneurial foundation laid by his parents. “Over the last thirty-one years, my parents have built a thriving manufacturing enterprise that today has an excellent reputation for the quality of its products and for its business integrity. I look forward to advancing on that path and taking Polykar to heightened levels of operational excellence and innovation.”

In the coming weeks the company will announce several executive appointments. As Amir stated, “It is my intention to continue to bring to Polykar exceptional talent that will contribute to managing and growing the business.” He also added that “our customers will continue to be well-served and remain our number one priority.”
