POLYKAR’S AMIR KARIM RECEIVES CANADIAN PLASTICS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2016

Ontario, Canada– The annual Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) Awards Dinner was held in Vaughan, Ontario, on Wednesday 14 September 2016. This year, Amir Karim, Polykar’s Chief Operating Officer was honored with the CPIA’s Leader of the Year Award for 2016.
 
The CPIA Leader of the Year Award recognizes individuals in the plastics industry who have made important contributions to the Canadian plastics industry and continually use their knowledge and influence to improve the competitive, innovative and environmental performance of the industry.  In addition, they contribute their time and resources to community and other organizations dedicated to society building.
 
Receiving his accolade at the CPIA dinner, Amir accepted the award on behalf of his parents, Elyse Damdjee and Aziz Karim, as well as industry colleagues and partners, and recognized the many entrepreneurs of small and medium sized businesses that contribute to the growth and innovation of the Canadian plastics industry.
 
For the last sixteen years, Amir has been responsible for the strategic growth and vision behind Polykar’s expansion, market diversification and wider geographical reach. He has also continued to be deeply involved in civil society initiatives, championing not only the plastics industry and passionately addressing the misconceptions surrounding it, but also the fields of higher education, fundraising for international development, and providing time and resources to local community organizations. Humbled by his selection by the awards committee, Amir thanked the CPIA for acknowledging his commitment to the plastics industry and his work outside it.
