Reporting to the Corporate Director, Human Resources and Organizational Development, the HR Advisor supports managers in all activities related to employee management. As a hands-on, frontline HR partner working closely with managers, he/she leads recruitment, assists managers with labor relations, contributes to performance management, and oversees absence and CNESST case follow-up. This role is focused on operational support and HR advisory services, in collaboration with the HR Coordinator and the Health & Safety Manager.Responsibilities
- Advise and support managers in the application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support managers with disciplinary management, employee file documentation, and decision-making.
- Contribute to a positive work environment focused on collaboration and employee engagement.
- Lead the recruitment process for both office and plant positions.
- Collaborate with the HR Coordinator on résumé screening, logistics, and candidate communication.
- Participate in the onboarding of new employees and the continuous improvement of the orientation program.
- Manage certain aspects of the foreign worker program, when required.
- Oversee absence files related to sickness, disability, or workplace accidents.
- Manage CNESST claims, maintain the employment relationship, and coordinate gradual return-to-work plans.
- Participate in the organization and follow-up of the performance management process.
- Support managers in setting objectives and evaluating employee performance.
- Contribute to employee skill development (training, development plans).
- Coordinate certain training or professional development activities.
- Participate in drafting, improving, and implementing HR policies and programs.
- Ensure rigorous maintenance of employee files and compliance with legal standards.
- Stay informed about legislative developments and HR best practices.
- Participate in workplace francization initiatives.
- Perform any other related duties in support of the HR department.
Requirements
- University degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field (CRHA designation is an asset).
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a human resources role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of labor standards and experience with administrative management of CNESST files.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and manager support capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
- Proactive, support-oriented, and solutions-focused approach.
- Bilingualism in French and English required. The HR Advisor must be able to communicate with English-speaking employees as well as the HR Director in Alberta.
