Polykar to Expand Production Capacity at Saint-Laurent, QC Plant
This represents 6 million lbs. a year of additional capacity and is expected to be operational by the Fall of 2019.
The investments are being made to several key areas; extrusion, the manufacturing of garbage bags and certified compostable bags, as well as food grade and industrial packaging. Polykar has also begun the process of upgrading its internal information systems.
Speaking about this new round of the Québec facility expansion, Polykar’s President, Amir Karim stated, “For some time now, we have witnessed solid growth occurring in our end-markets and this has driven us to implement additional capacity at this point. We believe this will enable us to continue to serve the developing needs of our clients in the best possible way.”
As a result of the expansion, the third in five years, Polykar will be adding up to 20 new positions in both manufacturing and administrative roles.
